The D'Morte-Disney deck is the creation of the occultist D'Morte, the Arch-Druid of Tinver Moor. His version of the Major Arcana is based on Golden Age Disney works from Snow White through to the Rescuers, while his Minor Arcana corresponds with the later films 'Little Mermaid', 'Beauty & the Beast', 'Aladdin' and 'Lion King'.
No; I'm keeping distance between me and the Mouse. I very much doubt they'd legitimise them. You never know - I do recall seeing a Mickey Mouse Darth Vader crossover that was official, and Vader was a genocidal bad-guy, so you never know.
Well, majors took about 8 weeks. Minors will take about the same - so I have to find some windows in order to get cracking.
Gist is, as the majors were based on the Golden Age movies, the minors will be based on the second peak period, the Eisner/Katzenberg/Wells period. So each suit fo the minors will be based on 'Little Mermaid', 'Beauty & Beast', 'Aladdin' & 'Lion King'.
The pips (number) cards will be simple symbols, to keep the workload managegable - also easier to read - as they were in the Marseilles deck.
cool idea ... i also really appreciated what you submitted to boing boing about how someones dinner gets more likes than your months of artistic effort ... i am also an artist and have been really loosely working on a tarot for the past couple years sort of as a toggle project to my main bodies ... find me online : i'm interested in connecting with more artists on a real level and for networking. chinafaithstar.com
China - thanks for the comment! I had no idea that boingboing had linked to it - that's great - I know they must get zillions of submissions, so getting through is very rewarding...assures the deck will get over that invisible bump.
Here's the problem for an artist (of any form) today: it's never been a better time from the point of view of creation - you have access to all these amazing digital tools ---- but, once your work is done, getting it seen in the vortex of stuff can be almost impossible. At best it'll get a brief ping, and then the deluge comes along and whisks it away. Almost as if it was never there at all. And the ability of people to differentiate between A B C and D grade material - well, many just don't seem to be able to tell A from D sometimes. It can be disheartening.
